RESPITE & SHORT-TERM ACCOMMODATION

A break for the people who care for you -without a break in the care you trust.

Too often, respite means handing your care to someone new in an unfamiliar place. Leaving you feeling unsettled and your carer unable to properly switch off.

We do it differently. The break is real, but the support stays familiar. Often with someone who already knows your routines, preferences and what helps you feel comfortable.

RespitT

Time to rest for your carer, continuity for you.

We shape respite around the level of care you normally receive, so daily life carries on as close to normal as possible.

Support at home

In your own home while the people you live with take a break.

Short-term stays

Suitable short-term accommodation with a familiar worker alongside you.

Everyday help

Personal care, meals, routines and everyday support during that time.

Overnight support

Overnight support when it helps you feel safe, settled and supported.

Regular or block

A weekend each month, or a longer block when a carer needs more time.

Routines kept intact

Your usual activities continue so the break doesn’t feel like a disruption.

Why a familiar face makes respite actually restful.

When the worker providing respite already knows you, there’s no anxious adjustment period. You’re not explaining yourself to a stranger; you’re spending time with someone you already trust.

And the carer taking a break can actually take it — knowing you’re in familiar hands rather than worrying from a distance.

Built around you, kept predictable.

We use a worker you already know

Respite is far more settling with a familiar face, so we draw from your existing team.

We introduce people properly

If a new worker is needed, they start alongside someone you already know.

We plan around your routine

We keep your usual rhythms intact so the time still feels like your own.

We coordinate the details

We manage timing, accommodation and coordination so families don’t have to.

Understanding respite funding.

Respite is funded for participants who live with family, friends, or a carer providing significant daily support – giving those informal supports a genuine break.

What it can go toward

Support during respite · suitable short-term accommodation · meals in a group or centre setting · overnight support where required. Usually funded for a set number of days each year, used flexibly.

What it doesn't cover

Holidays, airfares, holiday accommodation, travel insurance, and entertainment such as theme parks or events — along with everyday costs of family or workers supporting you.

For participants under 18, respite is intended to go beyond ordinary parenting and is assessed against age-typical support needs. Funding rules change and every plan is different, so we’d always encourage confirming the details with your plan manager or support coordinator.

A genuine break, without the worry.

Respite with us works best for families and carers who need a real break but worry about handing over care, and for participants who feel steadier with a familiar face and find unfamiliar people or places stressful.
